In 1967 the second generation Type 2 of the Volkswagen busses was introduced, the Panorama bus. This model has large side windows and a curved windshield without a center bar. In addition to external changes, the new copy also had some engine improvements. With 1.6 L and 48 DIN hp (35 kW) the power of the engine was increased.
Different versions of the T2 were also made. The pre-1971 models are called T2a. A transitional model was produced in 1972 and was given the model name T2a / b. A front of the a and rear of the b model are most important features. Type 2s from between 1972 and the early 1980s are named T2b, and the term T2c refers to the raised roof buses that were built specifically for American market traders in the early 1990s.

The T2 was first built in Germany, then in Mexico and then in Brazil. From model year 2006, a liquid-cooled engine (a 1.4 liter with 78 hp) was installed, bringing the era of the air-cooled boxer engine to an end.
