Documentation
This Volkswagen Type 2 Westfalia Camper is a special and iconic appearance. It is in a driving condition. This is an older restoration. The exterior is in an overall neat condition and is characterized by, among other things, the roof rail. The interior looks good overall and is characterized by all facets of a motorhome. Nice are all the attributes that come with the car, such as a picnic basket, roof boxes, fishing rods and a radio. The color choice is a historic shade of ivory with contrasting brown and light wood interior finishes. Until 6 years ago, a lot of work was carried out, such as a complete overhaul of the braking system, attention to the ignition system and the carburettors rebuilt in 2015. Regarding the Type 2 model: The Type 2 concept is credited to the Dutch importer Ben Pon. Its first sketches date from 1947, but production had to wait until March 1950, when VW caught up with demand for the basic beetle. From 1951, VW offered an officially approved motorhome conversion by Westfalia-werke of Franz Knöbel & Söhne in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany. Built as a van, both with and without rear side windows, it also came as a pickup or fully equipped motorhome, and numerous aftermarket conversions were made such as hearses, ambulances, police vans and fire service use.
