Documentation

Some cars are ordinary, some cars are interesting and some cars are exceptional. This Treser Polo GT is one of those exceptional cars. Walter Treser is firmly connected with the history of this car. In his youth, this man was the head of research at Pirelli. He has been leading the development of special vehicles at Audi since 1976. He was behind the development of the Audi 100 Quattro and it was he who gave the car its name. He has been leading the rally program in the Audi Sport division since 1980. Later he founded his own company Walter Treser GmbH, in which several remarkable cars were born, which are still not only interesting, but also relatively appreciated. Most of them were built on the basis of Audi, only one was based on a VW car. The only car was the Treser Polo GT, built on the basis of the VW Polo, for which you paid DM 18,500 in 1993 in the basic version. Walter Treser used a straight 3F engine with two possible power variants, 55 or 75 hp. The conversion of the basic version of Treser itself cost another 16,000 DM at the time. A total of 290 were produced between 1991 and 1993, of which only ten came directly from Walter Treser's workshop in Germany. These cars are a real rarity, also because not all of them have survived to this day. It is estimated that there are only six left from around the world. Cars made in Germany are signed on the boot lid by Karin Treser and this signature is provided with a transparent sticker. Interestingly, Walter Treser had such a reputation that the Treser Polo was even sold in an official Volkswagen dealer network with a two-year manufacturer's warranty. The body is interesting because it has a removable roof panel, which creates a targa or it is possible to remove the entire rest of the roof from the B-pillars, creating an impressive convertible. Both removed body parts can then be folded into the luggage compartment, which has been adapted for this. The car in the photos is one of the few cars that has been preserved in a completely original and undamaged condition, practically like a new car. He has only done seventeen thousand kilometers on the tachometer and has spent his whole life in the family of Walter Treser. The car also has its complete history and data from the technical inspection, which shows how many kilometers the car has been with in which period. To get a good idea of the car, we advise you to come to one of the viewing days.
