Documentation

In the late 1960s, both Volkswagen and Porsche had a similar problem. They were both looking for a new model. Porsche was looking for a replacement for the "slip-on", the Porsche 912, and Volkswagen was looking for a successor for the Type 34 Karmann Ghia. Volkswagen was contractually obliged to let Porsche develop one more model. These agreements were the foundations on which Porsche had built its existence. The project was started by Volkswagen under the leadership of Ferdinand Piëch, not coincidentally the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche. Funny detail is that to this day Porsche continues to claim that they started the design of the Porsche 914 but it was actually Gugelot Design GmbH that had been presenting a design for a few years that they had developed together with Bayer. Although Porsche and Volkswagen developed the car together and the engines also came from Volkswagen, the 914 was never sold as a Volkswagen. It was called VW-Porsche but never sold as such at the Volkswagen dealer. This Porsche 914 is from 1973 and was first registered in the Netherlands in 1985. Since that time, the car has had only one owner. We can therefore speak of “Long term ownership”. The 914 is a car for the enthusiast and this Porsche is no exception. The car has always been well maintained and very well cared for. The body has nice thin sheet metal and is in good condition with correct fits. The paint is called “Bahia Rot” and has been repainted once for cosmetic reasons. The paint is still in very good condition. The interior is in original condition. The carpets have already been replaced by copies in the same color and the leather upholstery on the seats is in excellent condition. The 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine is located in the middle and produces 99 hp in this configuration. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission with precise control. For a long time the Porsche 914 was not taken for granted by enthusiasts of the brand, as a result many copies have been lost and good ones are not easy to find. To get a good idea of the car, we advise you to come to one of the viewing days.
