This rare 1959 Porsche 356 A Convertible D is in running condition. The car is equipped with disc brakes. The car is Matching Numbers. The engine was completely overhauled a few years ago. This Porsche was originally delivered new in the color Elfenbein. Only in 1959 was the Porsche 356 A Convertible D produced. To distinguish itself from its illustrious predecessor, the Speedster, the Convertible D had larger windows on the front and rear as well as on the passenger sides. It does have the chrome moldings on the sides in common with the Speedster. It was only after this model went into production that Porsche thought it might be better to use a different name than Speedster. Only the first 14 units therefore have the 'Speedster D' lettering on the front mudguard. The other 1,316 have no inscription but have gone down in history as Convertible D.
