Documentation

Some cars are just fun. One because of a unique driving character and the other because of its appearance. The Nah Metropolitan Series 2 is typically a car from the latter category. When you see the car you don't really care how it drives. What a fantastic fun car to see. The color scheme of our copy is also perfect, the color is called “Caribbean Blue” and had the official color code P905. The Nash Metropolitan is an odd duck in American automotive history. During development, Nash soon realized that it would be too expensive to produce the Metropolitan in the United States. Because Nash had no experience in producing small cars, companies were called upon overseas. Naturally Austin Motor Company and Fisher & Ludlow were once again short of money, so the production of the Metropolitan was a welcome addition. It didn't just stop with building the cars, because Austin was also allowed to provide the drive. The Metropolitan is powered by a 1.2 liter four-cylinder engine mated to a three-speed manual transmission. The main competitor of the Metropolitan was the Volkswagen Beetle. The Metropolitan was praised by the press for its fine driving characteristics and the fact that it is a particularly economical car, one journalist even took the Metropolitan on a road test of almost 5,000 kilometers, including the top of Pikes Peak. What made the Metropolitan special was that it had almost all of the styling features of the large Nash models on sale at the time. So it was unmistakably a Nash, but a very small one. Now knew that Elvis Presley and Steve Jobs also once owned a Nash Metropolitan. The Metropolitan sold well, but as is often the case with cheap small cars, few remain because people only start to appreciate them much later. The Metropolitan is therefore a rare car in the United States today. The car is even more rare in the rest of the world where they were never delivered new. Our Metropolitan doesn't need much to get in very good shape. The car has already been restored once and now needs some attention again. The technology is in good condition, a number of rubbers on the undercarriage have recently been replaced. The paint is not perfect. There are some signs of wear here and there and to bring the car back to new condition, it will have to be repainted. The interior is neat and only needs some care. The body is free of rust with beautiful sheet metal and correct fits. In short, a very nice special Nash Metropolitan that needs some Tender Loving Care to revive the 50s. To get a good idea of the car, we advise you to come to one of the viewing days.
