This special Mercedes 300D "Dora" was introduced in 1957 as the absolute top model of Mercedes. The type W189 was often ordered as a parade car for heads of state and has windows that, including the frame, sink into the doors, which together with the removable rear side windows creates a special convertible-like effect. Various technical innovations from the 300SL “Gullwing” were also adopted, including the Bosch fuel injection. Due to the independent wheel suspension all around, the Dora has a light-footed but quiet road holding for its size. This example was delivered new in America in 1960 and has a Dutch registration since 2017. The car is finished in stylish gray with a luxurious red leather interior. Due to the spacious and open interior, the Dora is also extremely suitable as a wedding car. Both optically and technically this 300D is in excellent condition for its age and has probably been restored at some point. The driver's seat has wear.
