Documentation
The Mercedes 300D "Dora" was introduced in 1957 as the absolute top model of Mercedes. The W189 type has, among other things, windows that, including the frame, sink into the doors, which, together with the removable rear side windows, creates a special convertible-like effect. Various technical innovations from the 300SL “Gullwing” were also adopted, including the Bosch fuel injection. Due to the independent wheel suspension all around, the Dora has a light-footed but quiet handling for its size. This uniquely beautiful Mercedes has been owned by the same family for two decades since its arrival in the Netherlands. The Dora is often confused with the Adenauer, but those in the know know the differences and also that this is a pretty rare Mercedes. It was once produced in Bremen for the Canadian market (vehicle card available) and the car came to the Netherlands in 2000. This Dora is in a truly beautiful restored condition and has only been in motion on high Sundays and public holidays. Technically and optically, the car is in a very neat condition. It is therefore always an experience to drive it. The quietly whirring six-in-line petrol engine, coupled to the smooth-shifting automatic transmission, with at least as much space in the back as in the front.
