Documentation
The Mercedes-Benz W113 series was produced from 1963 to 1971. In total about 48,912 copies were made. Main designers were Paul Bracq and Béla Barényi. Almost all models were supplied with a soft top as standard, but a hard top was available as an option. The hardtop had a curved shape like a Chinese pagoda roof, which is why the W113 is also popularly called Pagoda. This is an original European 280SL of the last year of construction 1971, with the 2.8 liter 6 cylinder in-line engine, coupled to an automatic gearbox. The current Dutch owner found the car in 2002 at the Mercedes Benz dealer in Basel, Switzerland, where the car was stored in the basement over the winter. The car was then already 31 years old and was then provided with a new coat of paint, upholstery and carpet set. Furthermore, the car is still in its original, unrestored condition. Point of attention are the control buttons of the heating. They are made of plastic and are so outdated that part of them has broken off. They may be renewed, something the current owner has not done because he only drove in good weather. With hard and soft top.
