Documentation
The Mercedes-Benz Ponton body style began production in 7/1953 and was introduced to the public in the autumn of that year. It eventually replaced the Type 170 series, a post-war production pre-war car. Following on from the Type 300 “Adenauer” limousine, this was a completely new car from Daimler-Benz at this point in history. As Germany slowly recovered from the disasters of World War II, more and more people were able to afford a car. Of course, more people could afford a Mercedes-Benz. This Mercedes 180 Ponton is in a driving condition. The paintwork and sheet metal have a few imperfections, but otherwise look pretty neat. The interior generally looks good. The engine was overhauled some time ago with hardened valve seats so that it is suitable for Euro 95. The engine is also equipped with a new ignition and carburetor. The gearbox has been replaced. The gear rods only need to be adjusted because at the moment it is difficult to shift to 2nd gear. The car also has a new battery. Documentation is available, including an original catalog. This car with a Dutch registration is exempt from MOT. To get a good idea of the car, we advise you to come to one of the viewing days.
