Documentation

Launched in 1961, the Flavia maintained Lancia's enviable reputation for advanced and innovative automotive engineering. Designed by Antonio Fessia and inspired by his 1947 Cemsa prototype, the Flavia was Italy's first mass-produced front-wheel drive car. The engine was carried well forward of the front wheels and was a 1,488 cc, overhead-valve, horizontally opposed four; the suspension was independent at the front and through a beam axle at the rear, and there were power-assisted dual-circuit disc brakes all around. The saloon was joined in 1962 by the shorter-wheelbase Pininfarina-style Coupé, which formed the basis for a convertible version of Vignale. An attractive four-seater sports car, the Convertible enjoyed the stability, comfort and driveability common to the rest of the range. In 1963 the range was updated with an 1,800 cc engine. Only 1,601 Flavia Convertibles were produced between 1962 and 1967. This makes it a unique appearance that is not often seen. The Flavia offered here is in a neat and good driving condition. Both the interior, the exterior and the soft top generally look good. What is very special is that the original hard top is included with the car. There is a lot of documentation with the car, including maintenance invoices, photos of a previous restoration, etc. An extra nice additional advantage is that the car is exempt from road tax and MOT.
