After the new Husqvarna models proved to be heavier in 1972, they decided to rectify this in 1974 with the introduction of the 250 CR MAG model. Various engine parts were made of magnesium, which reduced the weight again. To this day, the 250 CR MAG is still called one of the best Husqvarnas ever made.
