Documentation

The Honda RC51, also known as the RVT1000R (USA) or VTR1000 SP-1 (EU and Australia), is a 90° V-twin motorcycle produced by Honda from 2000 to 2006. Built by Honda to prove Honda's reign from Ducati with a V-Twin on the track could also outsmart. Right into the 2000 launch year, Honda won the World Superbike Championship with Colin Edwards riding for the Castrol team. Wim Motors won the Endurance FIM World Championship in 2001 with the Honda RC51. Honda had learned lessons from the SP-1's inaugural season and produced the SP-2 for 2002. A stronger, stiffer frame and swingarm were identical to the WSB Superbike, and engine modifications increased peak power by 3 kW (4 hp) and the weight reduced by 5 kg. The SP-2 has been upgraded by Honda over the SP-1 on approx. 140 parts (!) which makes the bike a superior reliable Honda Superbike with comparable speed and power to a Ducati Superbike both on track and for street use. Factory specifications for on-road SP-2s (from Honda) were 133 horsepower with a top speed of 270 km/h. In 2002 Honda again won the World Superbike Championship with Colin Edwards. Honda also captured the AMA Superbike title that same year with Nicky Hayden. Honda stopped official support for superbike racing in 2003 because the superbike rules changed to allow 1,000cc 4-cylinder engines. The RC51 was replaced by Honda with the CBR1000RR Fireblade as the superbike racer. The RC51 is a true racing superbike with transmission ratios specifically geared towards street use, where for the Factory RC51s these were heavily focused on pure top speed. The engine is a 999cc liquid-cooled, double-overhead-cam V-Twin with two fuel injectors and four valves per cylinder. Power is delivered to the rear wheel through a six-speed transmission. The chassis is made of an aluminum alloy. This original Dutch delivered (2003) Honda VTR 1000 SP-2, performed in a very limited color scheme, comes from a private collection of a real V-Twin motorcycle enthusiast. With a heavy heart, a lack of space forces him to make choices and to reduce the collection to a more manageable whole. If the SP-1s are sometimes offered for sale, the SP-2 has become a rare appearance that often finds a permanent home among collectors as a “collectable”. The engine is running, but has stood still for some time. You will not easily find a nice, reliable SP-2 with a very low mileage (approx. 16,500) and you will now see the prices of the SP-2, both at dealers and private individuals, very quickly to even 20-25 K for the right version (or color combination). Furthermore, this Honda VTR 1000 SP-2 is equipped with special Arrow (Race Exhaust System) exhausts that (with or without Db-Killers) provide an incredible V-Twin sound experience. For those who are "too much of a good thing", the also supplied original Honda factory exhausts can be mounted. In addition to an Owners manual and Maintenance booklet, this motorcycle comes with an interchangeable passenger seat, paddock stand and trickle charger. To get a good picture of the engine, we advise you to come to one of the viewing days.
