This Ferrari 288 GTO Recreation is in a neat, driving condition. It is a unique car. A Ferrari 328 GTS was used as the basis. The car was sent new to America by the owner to be converted by Jim Carpenter. It has never been driven much, hence the very low mileage. The conversion is almost indistinguishable from the original and the interior is also correct. The special feature of this conversion is that the engine is placed lengthwise, which was almost never done because of the high conversion costs. The conversion costs for the engine are around $150,000, excluding the other conversion. The Electromotive ignition has been replaced and the Haltec injection computer has been tested at the factory in Australia. These two components have been specially developed for racing. The engine is a 3-litre V8 with 2 turbos and intercoolers. According to the engine builder's statement, the engine has more horsepower than an F40, because of the larger turbos on the engine.
