Documentation

The Ducati SuperSport and SS are a series of air-cooled four-stroke desmodromic 2-valve 90° V-twin motorcycles made by Ducati since 1988. A limited edition SuperSport called SuperLight was sold in 1992. The 1991 Supersports were produced with white chrome-molybdenum steel frames. and white wheels. The swingarms used needle roller bearings instead of bushings like in the past. Brakes from the Ducati 851 were used on the SuperSport which greatly improved braking performance. The revised SuperSports garnered immediate success and became wildly popular. Even though the 1991 SuperSport was extremely well developed, Ducati would continue to refine the bike over the years. From 1991 to 1998, the model was called 900 SS and was available with a full (SS or called “Carenata”) or half fairing (SS/CR or called “Nuda”). Due to the familiar and reliable technology, the Ducati 900 SS SuperSport remained virtually unchanged during this period. In order to be able to offer the customer something extra, Pam de Vries of Ducati Netherlands decided in 1995 to make a "Limited Edition" and, given the sporty character of the SS 900, to give it the addition "Imola". To make these extra attractive for the consumer, De Vries proposed an edition of 25 copies and not one more! The bike was exhibited at the Motor RAI where the need for Limited Editions would be gauged. The intention was to produce a 750 cc version in addition to a 900 cc the following year (1996). However, there were no reactions, so this only series of 25 pieces has remained, which has made the motorcycle very scarce 25 years later, so collectable. Through a forum on the internet you can read that spread over the Netherlands, at most about 6 to 7 copies are occasionally spotted or discussed somewhere! (Production total in 1995: 25 pieces !!!) This model "Imola" developed by Ducati Netherlands is based on an SS 900 SuperSport from 1995 and can be recognized by a whole package of extras worth approx. Fl. 4.000,= which are characterized in both optical and technical adjustments. However, too much to mention here. Over the years, this motorcycle (given its age) has been ridden relatively little, which is also easy to read in view of the relatively low mileage of approximately 36,000 km in the overall condition of the motorcycle. In addition to the necessary documents, the motorcycle will be delivered including the original Weekblad Motor edition in which the Ducati 900 SS “Imola” is put to the test as a test engine, as well as the test of the basic model Ducati 900 SS (1995). This Ducati 900 SS SuperSport "Imola" is of course an original Dutch delivered motorcycle which still has the original Dutch issued registration number. Is the Ducati 900 SS SuperSport getting scarcer and has the regularity with which it used to be offered is a thing of the past? Then the "Imola" version can be searched with a light. Certainly a (technically) well-maintained original example with a relatively low mileage, is rarely offered in the market and is never for sale for long! This is an even more exclusive Ducati 900 SS SuperSport “Imola” copy with Limited No. 001 (of 25 pieces!) A unique motorcycle that will only increase in value in the coming years. Runs, but cannot be started due to belts. Please refer to the general auction information for more information.
