Documentation

With the arrival of the new Supersport imminent, a Final Edition (SL/FE) was offered in 1998. This one was silver in color with black wheels with many of the specs that were the same as the earlier Superlight. All FEs were provided with a numbered plaque. (Production total: 800 pieces). The air-cooled engine has a capacity of 904 CC. Furthermore, the four-stroke V-Twin Cylinder SOHC Desmodronic engine is equipped with two valves per cylinder. The power of 78 HP (57 kW) is delivered at 7,000 rpm. The torque is set at 84 Nm at 6,400 rpm. The engine had a dry weight of 182 Kg and (before that time) already achieved a top speed of approximately 221 Km/hr. The transmission takes place via a 6-speed gearbox that drives the rear wheel via a chain. For the rest, the bike is equipped with the Showa Upside-Down front fork, which has been widely used by Ducati since the early 1990s, and a double disc brake at the front and a single disc brake at the rear. As far as we know, the Ducati SL/FE is also the only model that is supplied by Ducati ex works in the color gray. On later models (> 2000) there have been various Senna editions, but they were always in combination with the colors black, red, etc. In addition to the MK1, this is in practice the most sought-after Ducati Superlight among collectors, where the flush is becoming thinner worldwide. . The former owner has had the engine very well maintained (German: “scheckhaft gepflegd”), which, in addition to the external condition of the engine, can also be read from the various invoices supplied. In addition to the original Ducati folder, all documents also come with a maintenance booklet, the so-called “Guarantee Heft und Inspection Coupons”! The motorcycle has a Dutch registration, but is originally German and will be delivered including a folder with modest, including various invoices regarding maintenance and documents regarding the Dekra and TüV. As a Ducati collector, a Superlight cannot be missed. If you also consult the SL900 register, you can read that there are several people who own one or more Superlights, not everyone chooses to register their Superlight for various reasons. As you can see in this auction, there is always a very small group of enthusiasts who aim to have the entire series in their collection. However, this collecting goal is not really easy in practice, but has not become impossible with this auction. Runs, but cannot be started due to belts.
