Documentation

Ducati has a World Champion with rider Doug Polen with the Ducati 888 which has trumped the competition by taking a big lead in technology. Three four-valve Ducati types are available in 1993. The 'Ducati 888 Strada', 'Ducati 888 SP0' and the 'Ducati 888 SP5'. The '888 Strada' has a drilled-out block of the '851 Strada' (1992), and is its replacement. The motorcycle weighs 202 kilograms dry and has a bronze colored frame with black wheels. The 245 km/h fast machine has become an easy-to-use engine in the seven-year development of Ducati four-valves. Following on from the successful 888 series, Ducati will introduce a motorcycle at the end of 1993 that is unparalleled in the motorcycle world. The 8-series disappears and in the course of 1994 the last 100 '888 SP0' units are delivered. The Ducati 888 is succeeded by the Ducati 916, which marks the beginning of a new era. The 'Ducati 851/888' will go down in motorcycle history as the model that took Ducati to the pinnacle of engineering. (Total production in 1993: 1,280 units). The liquid-cooled engine has a capacity of 888 CC. Furthermore, the four-stroke V-Twin Cylinder DOHC Desmodronic engine is equipped with four valves per cylinder. The power of 104 HP (76.5 kW) is delivered at 10,500 rpm. The torque is set at 78.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The engine had a dry weight of 210 Kg and (before that time) already achieved a top speed of approximately 246 Km/hr. The transmission takes place via a 6-speed gearbox that drives the rear wheel via a chain. The rest of the bike is equipped with a Showa Upside-Down fork and a double disc brake at the front and a single disc brake at the rear. This bike is equipped with Termignoni exhausts which brings out the real Ducati roar. You don't have to worry about lack of interest when refueling, because they are becoming very scarce. Despite its considerable mileage of approx. 56,000, the machine still runs like a charm and it is also difficult not to go for a quick round in good weather. In addition to the standard documents, the bike will be delivered including an owners manual and an original Ducati folder. A Ducati 888 is the ultimate childhood dream of which you had a poster hanging above your bed and wondered if there would ever come a time in this life when you could pay the necessary purchase price of approx. Fl. 43,000.= would ever get together. They are now becoming a rare sight on the road and you have to come to the Italy track days or Ducati club days to meet more enthusiasts. An absolute Ducati "Must-Have" that should not be missing in your collection. Runs, but cannot be started due to belts. Please refer to the general auction information for more information.
