Documentation

The Ducati SuperSport and SS are a series of air-cooled four-stroke desmodromic 2-valve 90° V-twin motorcycles made by Ducati since 1988. From 1994, a 600 cc engine was added in the form of the SS 600 to offer a wider range of products. wishes of the upcoming 600 cc classes. The revised SuperSports garnered immediate success and became wildly popular. Even though the 1994 SuperSport was extremely well developed, Ducati would continue to refine the bike over the years. (Production total in 1997: 1.001 pieces).. The air-cooled engine has a capacity of 583 CC. Furthermore, the four-stroke V-Twin Cylinder SOHC Desmodronic engine is equipped with two valves per cylinder. The power of 53 HP (38.7 kW) is delivered at 8,250 rpm. The torque is set at 49 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The engine had a dry weight of 172 Kg and (before that time) already achieved a top speed of approximately 192.6 Km/hr. The transmission takes place via a 5-speed gearbox that drives the rear wheel via a chain. The rest of the bike features Ducati's widely used Marzocchi Upside-Down fork and a single disc brake at the front and a single disc brake at the rear. This 1997 model is one of the last series from 1997 and can be recognized by the streamline (fairing) that has been changed. More air vents have been added to the full fairing and the Ducati stickers (Graphics) have now been enlarged over the entire fairing, which gives the bike a new look after having been unchanged for several years. The engine is almost entirely in original condition as it was performed at the time and (technically) well maintained. The original exhaust has been replaced for a deeper sound by a Sebring carbon muffler, which brings out the real Ducati sound. Over the years, the motorcycle has been ridden relatively little given its age, which is also easy to read in view of the relatively low mileage of approximately 26,000 km in the overall condition of the motorcycle. The engine is easy to ride and as a motorcycle with its 39 kW it is a very valuable and safe addition to gain experience in the type of sports motorcycle with racing aspirations. You can read all about this in the attached test reports from both the weekly magazine Motor and Moto 73. This Ducati SuperSport is an original Dutch delivered motorcycle which still has the original Dutch issued registration number. The Ducati 900 SS SuperSport is not scarce and is still regularly offered. A (technically) well-maintained original example with a relatively low mileage is not offered on the market every day, but can still be found with some detective work! If you're looking for the Caranata type (with the full fairing) in the Diablo Yellow color scheme, don't hesitate to turn on your high beam, because you won't find it any time soon. Runs, but cannot be started due to belts. Please refer to the general auction information for more information.
