Documentation

The Citroën Traction Avant was a very innovative car that was produced by Citroën from 1934. Citroën was then owned by Michelin, who used the Traction as a test car for the development of the then pioneering radial tires. The Traction Avant was produced, to a design by André Lefèbvre and Flaminio Bertoni. It was the first mass-produced car with front-wheel drive (French: Traction Avant) and a unibody construction. During the period 1934 – 1957 (the DS was introduced in 1955 which initially used the same engine) a total of 770,000 units were produced. The Citroën Traction Avant was built in three European factories, namely Paris (France), Vorst (Belgium) and Slough (UK). Our example was first registered in 1937 and comes from Portugal. The special thing about this Traction Avant is that this car is equipped with the desirable 6 cylinder. This is a Citroën Traction Avant that needs to be restored. The base is good, the chassis and body need attention but are free of significant rust. The engine turns around, but an extensive service is recommended to give the engine the best possible performance. The rear seat is missing from the interior, but the dashboard is still complete in terms of clocks and parts. As always with a restoration of this kind, keep in mind that there may be a few missing parts. The advantage is that these are still readily available. All in all, the Citroen may look a bit 'rough', the basis is more than fine. To get a good idea of the car, we advise you to come to one of the viewing days.
