Documentation

This rare 1950 Buick Special Jetback Coupé with Dynaflow automatic transmission comes from a collector's estate. 1950 is the most sought-after model year of this type and is characteristic of the design of that time. This Buick is a so-called Sedanet type 46. It is a Coupé, but with some lines of a sedan. The sloping back is called 'Jetback'. The 'portholes' in the hood are another typical Buick style element, they are functional and provide engine cooling. The special grille is the so-called 'Bucktooth grille' that Buick only supplied in 1950. The Buick Fireball 8 in-line 4L engine, in combination with the Dynaflow automatic transmission, ensures smooth driving. The buyer who put this Buick together in 1950 checked almost all options. From the Selectronic Radio to the Dynaflow automatic transmission and from the White Wall tires, via Air Conditioning, to the heavier shock absorbers (High Springs) for extra comfort. This is a project car. The car has been in dry storage for a while, so that the chassis, body and chrome are generally well preserved. The engine is loose and spinning (October 2022 video available), the Dynaflow automatic gearbox works and all wheels run freely. The front floor plate and the fuel pump need to be replaced, the braking system is complete but needs to be checked and in the garage something has been attacked against the side window, this is cracked. The battery has been replaced, carburettor, starter motor and alternator have been recently checked. After a one-time inspection at the RDW, this Buick is forever MOT and free of road tax.
