Documentation

This BMW Z1 is finished in Green (Urgrun) metallic. Of these, 2041 copies were produced. 5000 Z1s are either Red or Black. More than 500 copies were delivered in Violet, Blue and Yellow. This Z1 was sold new in Germany in 1990. The car has been in the Netherlands since 1997. The first owner owned the car until 2013. He was an enthusiast and active member of the BMW Z1 club in the Netherlands. Since 2013, the car has been owned by the 2nd Dutch owner. During the time in the Netherlands, the car has been meticulously maintained from the maintenance since 2013, all documentation is available. Both the interior and exterior look good overall. Characteristic is the low mileage. There is a valid MOT until 24-07-2022. In 1987 the Z1 was launched as a concept car at the IIA in Frankfurt. The 8000 (exact number!) copies were made by hand from 1989 to 1991. Initially, BMW wanted to produce 4000 Z1s, but due to demand, BMW increased that to 8000. Between 10 and 20 copies were produced daily. The Z1 is a car in which BMW has incorporated a lot of new technology, which was later incorporated into newer cars. It was the first car in the world to achieve 1G in corners on standard tires. This was due to innovations such as the mid-engine, the Z rear axle, the smooth bottom and the wing shape of the rear muffler. The bodywork is special. It comprises a galvanized steel chassis on which plastic body panels are mounted. The doors open by sliding downwards and are not part of the load-bearing part of the body. The design of the Z1 is by the Dutchman Harm Lagaay, who became chief designer at Porsche after designing the Z1. The engine is taken from E30 325iX, a 6 line, 2.5 liter with 171 hp and 218 Nm. This allows the Z1 to reach a top speed of 225 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. To get a good idea of the car, we advise you to come to one of the viewing days.
